Post-traumatic stress is what happens when our minds and our bodies continue to react to a past trauma as though it could happen right now. Monkey Therapy offers a multifaceted approach to trauma recovery, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and a specialized neuroprocessing intervention known as Brainspotting. Build resilience and a safe space. Creating a safe space means teaching you ways to cope with intense emotions before you feel overwhelmed, and going at a pace that is right for you.
Change day-to-day thinking patterns. Connect with the emotional parts of you are that stuck in the past, understand how they are influencing your thinking in the present. Restructure negative thought patterns stemming from trauma, replacing them with healthier, more realistic perspectives.
Update limiting beliefs. Recognize and change the beliefs that are stopping you from moving forward, for example, negative or inaccurate ways of perceiving normal situations.
Heal emotional wounds caused by traumatic experiences. Release long-held emotional burdens, calming hypersensitivity and restoring emotional equilibrium.
Desensitise your fears. Using a neuroprocessing intervention called Brainspotting, Monkey therapy targets stuck points. The process desensitises past triggers and strengthens your resilience to current stressors.
Calm your body and mind: Develop coping skills to manage emotions and bodily sensations linked to trauma, learning to self-sooth when you need it most.
